Scientists from ND PHARMA & BIOTECH and ND INNOVATION are to study how Traditional Chinese Medicine, specially the Herbal Medicines compiled in ND Pharma Oriental Materia Medica ( A two volume treaty that is a complete compilation of herbs, minerals and other active principles used in Traditional Chinese Medicine from ancient times in the health and relief of diseases and human suffering conditions), that now can be applied to modern drugs as part of a revamp of the company’s research and development. ND PHARMA & BIOTECH and its subsidiaries in investigation, research and innovation reveal the creation of new units that will look at traditional Chinese medicines, investigating how their principles can be applied to making new, synthetic, molecules. “Within our partners organisations in China we have created an specific project that will marry Traditional Chinese Medicine with modern drug discovery and clinical efficacy,” said J P Harford, chairman of research and development. “With modern technology we have the potential to yield new molecular entities with significant efficacy.” The new unit will be based in China and will be operated within the premises of the most important fabric plant ND Pharma & Biotech operates in mainland. With its pharmaceutical market forecast to mushroom and other specific herbal, organic and similar products to more than $100bn (£63.5bn) by 2015, China is one of the most important battlegrounds for drug companies facing pricing pressure and more competition from generics.
